Episode 30: What Should You Include On Your About Page for Your Business Website?
In this episode of the Business Website Blueprint podcast, I’m sharing what you should include on your website about page.
Are you a business owner who’s been struggling to figure out how to build your SEO so you can start getting found organically on Google or any other search engine?
In this episode of the Business Website Blueprint Podcast, I’m going to share with you 3 easy ways that you can build your SEO for your business website.
Quick Disclosure: This blog post contains affiliate links, which means when you click the link to purchase something on this page, it won’t cost you more but I may receive a commission for sharing it with you. Which is great, because I was going to share it with you anyway!
Blog posts utilize keywords that people are searching through search engines. Blog posts are also something that you are adding to continually, so it will continue to boost your SEO. When you write a blog post, it shows that you have authority in the services or products that you offer. It also helps your website visitors learn something, to stay on your website longer, and they’re more likely to purchase from you or sign up for your services if they’ve learned something for free from your blog post. In this way, blog posts have the double duty of not only building your SEO, but also building your brand authority.
If you’re not writing blog posts yet, I highly recommend you start. You can do one blog post a month, or even one a week – whatever works best for you. If you have a podcast for your business already, you can repurpose the transcripts from those podcast episodes into blog posts, so it doesn’t have to be an additional thing added to your plate.
The second great way to boost your SEO on your business website is by guest posting on other websites.
When you’re a guest on another website and you create a blog post for them, they will link to your website when that blog post goes live. This tells Google that you’re a credible resource because other businesses are recommending you.
I recommend setting yourself a goal for how many guest blog posts you want to do a year, then break that down into how many you need to do a month in order to hit that goal. Again, guest posting is a really great way to boost your SEO because it tells Google that other businesses are recommending you, so they should too.
The third way for you to build your SEO on your business website is to use keywords in your text, URLs, alt text, etc. I talk really in depth about this back in Episode 8, “The 5 Simple SEO Strategies to Implement on Your Business Website, which you can check out here.
Basically, you should be using any keywords that you think people are searching in relation to your business. When Google crawls your site, they’re looking to see what keywords you’re trying to rank for. If they see the keywords repetitively, they’re more likely to start ranking you for that term. This doesn’t mean you should keyword stuff and put 10 million keywords in your site. I recommend using those keywords sparingly, but enough that Google will know what you’re trying to rank for.
