Episode 30: What Should You Include On Your About Page for Your Business Website?
In this episode of the Business Website Blueprint podcast, I’m sharing what you should include on your website about page.
If you’re a business owner, you obviously need to have a website to get your name out there.
In this episode of the Business Website Blueprint Podcast, I want to share with you one of my mottos for your business website, and that is make your website skimmable, not skippable.
Quick Disclosure: This blog post contains affiliate links, which means when you click the link to purchase something on this page, it won’t cost you more but I may receive a commission for sharing it with you. Which is great, because I was going to share it with you anyway!
When somebody comes to your website, you don’t want them to immediately get overwhelmed with tons of words that they have to try to read and figure out what you offer. You want to stick with the concept of “less is more”, which we talked about back in episode 20. Basically, this just means keeping it simple, keeping your text on your website concise, and making it really easy for people to navigate.
When you’re making your website skimmable, not skippable, you want to make sure:
By doing all of these things, you’re reducing the amount of overwhelm people might feel when they visit your site. If they do get overwhelmed, they’re going to hop right off your site, and they’re going to go find a website that breaks things down clearly and concisely for them.
When you make your website skimmable, not skippable, you will be amazed at how quickly you see your sales start to go up.
If you can keep things simple for your website visitors, they’re much more likely to purchase your products or services. The best way to do this is with the “skimmable, not skippable” approach.
If you want to DIY your website, whether you already have one and it needs a refresh, or you’re starting from ground zero, I offer website templates that utilize all of the elements of the “skimmable, not skippable” approach. The website templates are simple, they’ve got sections for bullet points, not a ton of effects, clear sections, simple graphics, and only a few design elements.
With every website template, you get access to the “Wow, What a Website” training, which walks you through all of the settings you need to get your website up and running, and how to actually customize the template to what you need for your own business. You can find the website templates at ariannavernierdesign.com/shop.
