Episode 30: What Should You Include On Your About Page for Your Business Website?

When you’re building your business website, you don’t need a ton of design elements, super long pages, a ton of content, and all the things. You want to keep your website simple, concise, and to the point.

In this episode of the Business Website Blueprint Podcast, I want to share with you an approach that I take with every website that I build, and it is the “less is more” approach.

Taking the "Less is More" Approach with Your Business Website:

There are a few ways that you can do take the “less is more” approach with your website:

  1. Bullet points: It’s important to keep each bullet point to one or two sentences, so it’s not overwhelming to read.
  2. Simple effects: You don’t need a ton of effects on your website. When you have too many effects, it gets overwhelming and can take away from the actual user experience and the reason that they are on your website. It’s okay to do a few effects to really make something important pop. You could have your call to action fade in to draw more attention to it, but you don’t need every single element moving on the page.
  3. Clean website sections: The same thing goes for the different sections on your website. You don’t want to have super cluttered sections with a ton of content, because it becomes really overwhelming to sift through. You want to make sure every section on your website is clear, decluttered, doesn’t have a a ton of colors, very simple as far as fonts, and simple photos that draw attention to your product or service.
    You want it easy on the eyes, and easy for your website visitors to learn what they need to know about your products. If they’re confused at all, they’re not going to stay on your website.

If you can keep things simple for your website visitors, they’re much more likely to purchase your products or services. The best way to do this is with the “less is more” approach.
